The System Mechanic web site is heaven for the computer hypochondriac. It reveals a catalogue of PC maladies than you never knew you had. Memory leaks, misaligned programmes, fragmented registries, and the delightfully named CRUDD (Commonly Redundant or Unnecessary Decelerators and Destabilisers).
Version 11 of the software claims to solve all of these problems and generally gives your computer a tune-up. There is a start-up optimiser to speed up booting-up time, tools to keep your drivers updated, optimise your internet connections and to boost the speed of your PC by turning off unused background programmes, and a whole bunch more.
