Many network outages are caused by human error - for instance, by a drill slipping or a workman’s heavy boot resting on a delicate pipe. The fact that Geo Networks' cables are so deep below the ground means there is less chance of disruption. 

The company claims it has suffered only one cable being cut since the London network began in 2005.
