Call for graduates to apply for John Lewis technology scheme

Retailer John Lewis is encouraging university-leavers to apply for positions in its graduate development scheme

Retailer John Lewis is encouraging university-leavers to apply for positions on its graduate scheme.

John Lewis is hosting a graduate scheme in five areas, in technology as well as retail management, buying, merchandising and corporate finance. The graduate scheme is open to final-year students and graduates.

John Lewis said the technology arm of the scheme – which is new to 2014 – will develop graduates’ technology skills as well as the qualities needed to become a future leader of the business.

Carole Donaldson, manager of resourcing at John Lewis, said the technology scheme had been implemented to develop a new generation of IT leaders and to help drive forward John Lewis’ ambition to become a leading omni-channel retailer.

The fast-track career development programme will allow technology graduates to work with graduates from other business-focused projects to gain insight into the impact technology has on the business.

The training will include an international placement during the second year, as well as the opportunity to study for Prince2, a project-management training course.

“We’re looking for talented, motivated and determined graduates to apply for our scheme. Every year, we take on a variety of different graduates with diverse degrees and backgrounds, which strengthens us as an organisation in the long-term, and this year will be no exception,” said Donaldson.

To apply for the 2014 John Lewis Partnership graduate scheme, visit www.jlpjobs.com/graduates, before 1 December 2013.
