Rolls-Royce signs outsourcing deal with HP

By Kathleen Hall

Rolls-Royce has awarded a five-year contract to HP to host its applications, as part of the company’s multi-vendor IT strategy.

The news follows HP’s loss of its large 12-year outsourcing deal with Rolls-Royce in March, with Capgemini named as its service integrator to manage its multi-sourced outsourcing environment.

Simon Ricketts, CIO at Rolls-Royce, said the deal with HP would build on the company's existing relationship. "[This] represents the next step in our journey toward an industry-leading, multivendor IT ecosystem to support our current and future global business priorities," he said.

Under the new deal HP will also manage the Rolls-Royce remote server and storage environments in Brazil, Canada, France, Germany and Norway.

HP will provide datacentre facilities worldwide to manage Rolls-Royce applications and data centre infrastructure. It will provide maintenance and support services for the Rolls-Royce engineering, manufacturing, customer service and other back office and information management applications.

The applications management and support contract will provide Rolls-Royce with a proactive management service that will improve availability to users, achieve flexibility and keep the portfolio up to date.
