British Waterways Scotland has signed a £2.3m deal with business technology company Amor Group to develop its ICT systems.
Amor will provide British Waterways Scotland (BWS), the body which maintains canals and rivers, with a new ICT infrastructure, storage services, business continuity systems, disaster recovery and desktop servers over the next three years.
The new IT systems will be delivered following the separation of BWS with the rest of the UK in April 2012. BWS requires a new ICT system that is conducive to its new status and size, said BWS.
Debs Hurst, financial controller at British Waterways Scotland, said: “With Scottish Ministers having decided that we shall remain in public ownership as a stand-alone public body, we needed a partner to help us develop a new ICT system and one which is flexible enough to support business growth going forward.”
