BMC Software to buy datacentre automation firm BladeLogic

Antony Savvas

Business service management firm BMC Software is buying datacentre automation company BladeLogic for £400m.

"Organisations around the world will spend more than £70bn this year running datacentres," said Bob Beauchamp, BMC CEO. "Automation is the only way IT can bring this spending under control and still meet the reliability and time-to-market requirements of their businesses," he said.

The acquisition will combine BMC's business service management platform with BladeLogic's datacentre automation business.

BMC said that customers of the combined system could expect a 90% improvement in IT operational efficiency within 90 days of deployment, as well as addressing the challenges of compliance, virtualisation and availability.
