The Linux Platform Migration Utility, unveiled at the company's AppsWorld conference in London, will be available free to Oracle customers from July.
In conjunction with the new tool, Oracle said that it is offering technical support services for customers with product support contracts who use the Linux operating system (OS).
However, these customers must also maintain an OS support contract with Red Hat or any of the UnitedLinux founding members, Oracle said.
Speaking at the conference, Mark Jarvis, chief marketing officer and senior vice president at Oracle, told attendees, "We strongly recommend that all of you take a look at using Linux. It will decrease costs and increase performance."Scarlet Pruitt writes for IDG News Service
