Angry users of Microsoft's Sidekick mobile devices who have been without contacts and other personal data for nearly a week may be about to get some relief, as the software giant is telling some interested parties that users' data has been "recovered."

The revelations are emerging on Twitter, where Reuven Cohen recently tweeted: "Was just talking to a senior official from Microsoft, all sidekick data as been recovered. And yes, according to MS it's a cloud."
Storage blogger and presenter at Storage Decisions Australia, W Curtis Preston, also says Microsoft has told him that the data has been recovered.
The recovery of the data comes after many sources blamed Hitachi Data Systems for the outage. At least one blogger has also alleged that EMC SANs were to blame for the outage, but EMC has said this report is wrong and no EMC products are involved.
The tweets will hearten Sidekick users, as Microsoft's most recent statement on the matter indicated that "recent efforts indicate the prospects of recovering some lost content may now be possible."
