HCL Axon has won a five-year deal with pharmaceuticals giant GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) to provide SAP implementation, IT consulting and systems integration services.

The division of HCL Technologies will first take on a large SAP transformation project and support HCL Axon's target of extending its global SAP businesses.

David Mitchell, an analyst at Ovum, said SAP continues to be the application choice for many companies seeking to transform their business through an enterprise technology and services platform.

"Ensuring that such transformation programmes deliver true value needs a technology partner which understands the technology in-depth, but which also truly understands business. HCL, amplified by its Axon acquisition, has a strong blend of technology and business expertise to support GSK through the years ahead."
