Readers may recall the posting here on 15 November where advice was given on planning ahead in case the poor weather that we saw last winter returns. Well as a followup, the Highways Agency have now issued their own advisory suggesting that drivers plan ahead.

The Highways Agency is asking drivers to check their vehicles over, to put an emergency weather kit in the vehicle, be alert for severe weather warnings and to plan their journeys. All obvious stuff really, but which most of us ignore.

The agency asks drivers to help themselves by calling the agency's information line (0300 123 5000), listen to their traffic radio broadcast on DAB radio, check out the agency's website (www.highways.gov.uk/traffic) or download their iPhone app.
