Ranger to lead Westcon EMEA services

Networking, datacentre and security distie Westcon has hired former Intermec Technologies man Chris Ranger as its new vice president of EMEA services

Networking, datacentre and security distie Westcon has hired former Intermec Technologies man Chris Ranger as its new vice president of EMEA services.

Reporting to both Westcon EMEA EVP Jeremy Butt and his Comstor counterpart, Andreas Dohmen, Ranger will take charge of the distributor’s value-added services offering, formalising the services model and execution, which will include training, post-sales support and technical audits.

In his most recent role with mobile computing specialist Intermec, Ranger oversaw the transformation of the firm’s partner services offering from an in-house repair operation to an outsourced model. He has also spent time with Siemens, Colt Telecom and Motorola Enterprise Technology, among others.

Westcon’s current services offering includes worldwide procurement services, smart logistics and reverse logistics, and its Executive Relevance Selling service, a strategic marketing and sales enablement programme built around the design of Cisco project proposals at executive level.

“We’re well aware that partner success is based on much more than a strong vendor portfolio.  Partners require a distributor with varied services that support their offerings,” said Jeremy Butt. “Chris will be instrumental to helping us broaden and further evolve our services strategy in EMEA.”

Dohmen added: “While typically a strength for Westcon, changing market dynamics mandates we adapt and grow our services model.  With deep expertise leading some of the market’s best global services strategies, Chris is the perfect fit to make this happen.”
