Insight Enterprises is looking for a new CEO after confirming that Rich Fennessy has left the firm.

The board has instated Insight director Anthony Ibarguen as interim boss while it belatedly kicks off a succession strategy. Previously he was president and COO at Tech Data.

Chairman Timothy Crown said the reseller has expanded its global footprint, diversified into new markets and built a services portfolio "all while integrating large acquisitions."

"As we look to the future, we believe Insight can continue to evolve and realize its full potential with the help of a new president and chief executive officer focused on driving ongoing improvements in our operational execution," he said.

Fennessey took the hot seat at Insight in November 2004 and saw sales develop from $3.1bn in December that year to around $4.8bn in 2008, flat on 2007.
