After more than five years as IBM's head of business partners in the UK and Ireland Simon Pendlebury is to step down and move across to lead the hardware business at Big Blue.

A successor for the role as vice president of business partners has yet to be found but Microscope understand Pendlebury will become vice president for the Systems Technology Group (STG) with immediate effect.

Pendlebury said he had overseen the Business Partner channel "during a period of rapid change and channel transformation. We have jointly made huge strides over the last five years in developing and maintaining strong relationships."

He added, "In my new role I will be highly dependent on the same Business Partners and will continue to work with them on staying in front of the competition."

According to industry sources, Jackie Davey is in line for the role vacated by Pendlebury. Dave Kay, who had been the vice president for STG will head up the system integrator group.
