Fabric's Microsoft expertise is centred on Dynamics CRM and NAV, Office and Sharepoint, and ACS claims the purchase of Fabric creates one of the UK's biggest Microsoft partners.

On close Fabric will be integrated into ACS' managed services business, Advanced 365, which is located on the City Road, close to Fabric's current location.

The acquisition also provides potential managed services cross-selling opportunities across ACS' business, according to chief exec Vin Murria, who said: "This acquisition forms part of the Group's strategy to identify and acquire high-quality complementary businesses to strengthen our 365 managed services division."

Likewise, Fabric's unified communications and network infrastructure capabilities - it holds Cisco Premier Partner status - complements a growing focus on networks and comms within ACS.

Earlier in the year it launched a new mobile comms unit, reselling handsets and airtime to public sector customers of its Advanced Health & Care division, and this week expanded that capability to its ERP unit, Advanced Business Solutions.
