IT management software vendor Ipswitch has picked up web app specialist iOpus Software for an undisclosed sum.

The firm, which will become part of Ipswitch's Network Management Division, focuses on cloud-based web application performance testing and monitoring solutions.

It has two main product sets, AlertFox and iMacros, that Ipswitch claims will "empower" customers to better track and ensure optimal web app performance - including Rich Internet Apps using technology such as Flash or Java - ultimately improving the end-user experience.

Ipswitch said the integration of iOpus means its IT management solutions now cover every layer of web infrastructure from the cloud to the end-user.

"The internet is the backbone of today's business world, and our customers can now ensure their web presence performs flawlessly," said Ipswitch Network Management president Ennio Carboni.

"We are flipping the market for affordable IT monitoring and management on its head, offering enterprise level capabilities at affordable price points," he added.
