Cloud sector heavyweight VMware has given its backing to the Cloud Industry Forum, becoming the latest provider to join the industry body.
It adds its market clout, with over 300,000 customers and 25,000 resellers, to a list of names that already includes Dell, Microsoft and Rackspace, among others.

VMware's Gavin Jackson, director of vCloud and service providers, said the vendor believed the Forum's code of practice for cloud providers would "drive consumder confidence in the market".
"We look forward to working with CIF and helping it to succeed in promoting a credible and certifiable code of practice for the cloud industry, as well as bringing businesses, consumers and suppliers of cloud services closer together in a trusted marketplace," he added.
"VMware is an important addition to our membership because it is one of the biggest brands in the industry, having proven commercial and technical ability to deliver cloud-based solutions," said chairman Andy Burton.
