Virtualisation and private cloud vendor Embotics has taken its first steps into the world of European distribution and teamed up with Magirus after deciding that the distributor's virtualised datacentre expertise was a good fit for its own technology.

Embotics, which touched down in EMEA last autumn at the VMworld Europe 2011 show in Copenhagen, specialises in a midmarket management software package called V-Commander.

According to Embotics, V-Commander enables end-users to provision virtual machines themselves, as well as managing the request and approval workflow process from end-to-end offering chargeback and IT costing analysis.

The firm reckons this will give the channel a route into businesses through consultancy services provision, and improved private cloud efficiency.

Embotics CEO Jay Litkey said the agreement would present the channel with a huge opportunity  "to go into organisations with small virtual environments and offer consultancy services - performing comprehensive assessments that show off the reality of their virtual estates.... The ROI can be measured in weeks."

It is also recruiting specifically around pre- and post-sales staff and technical architects to support its channel designs.
