PC and components distributor VIP Computers has acquired Liverpool-based computer assembler CMS Computers to grow its share of the UK market as well as extending the support resources it can offer customers.

The deal, the terms of which remain undisclosed, brings CMS Computers with its Zoostrom and Fizzbook brands into the VIP Group and it is unlikely to be the last acquisition as the hunt continues for market share.

"I am keen to leverage the strength of VIP Group to significantly acquire scale through a blend of organic growth and further strategic acquisitions within our chosen sectors," said Jatti Sahni, chairman of VIP Computer Centre.

CMS Computers will be run independently by two of the current directors - Sion Roberts and Ian Fraser - and will keep its brands and own corporate identity.
