Brother has hired Andy Forsyth, formerly sales and marketing director for HP's UK and Ireland laser printing business, in a newly created channel support and development role.

He will take responsibility for Brother's existing product porftolio in a move heralded by the vendor as a signal of its intent to expand in the mid-market sector.
At the same time, Brother's general manager Terry Caulfield will be spearheading new technology and solution-based launches, as well as a planned expansion into the VAR marketplace.
Forsyth said he would be focusing on "further develop[ing] the company's partnership with the channel to identify gaps in the market for products and services which not only solve end-users' challenges but also help our resellers to establish lifetime value from their customers."
Brother sales and marketing director Phil Jones said the firm continued to deliver positive underlying sales growth, and was investing in a "long-term growth plan and higher value customers."
The firm reported a 4.7% increase in printer sales to £103.7m in the 12 months to 31 March 2011, in a market that otherwise saw declining sales volumes.
