Staffs-based public sector PC supplier Stone has signed a deal with Lenovo to supply the Chinese manufacturer's kit to the British education market combined with Stone's bespoke configuration and services offering.
Stone CEO James Bird said the new arrangement was a move to offer existing and new education customers a more varied product portfolio including products from a tier one vendor, something it has not offered previously.
"As well as enabling more choice this deal will give our customers access to Lenvo products as part of a configuration package that we are happy to put our name against," he said.
Stone customers will be able to purchase Lenovo gear, including ThinkPad notebooks and ThinkCentre desktops alongside value-add configuration such as memory, hard drive upgrades, encryption, extended warranties and recycling arrangements, among other things.
Bird added the new UK-exclusive arrangement was something of a departure for the market, hailing the creation of a 'manufacturing added reseller'.
