ScanSource hits new sales record

Avaya and Extreme Networks distributor ScanSource has posted record sales and net profits for the three months to the end of January.

Avaya and Extreme Networks distributor ScanSource has posted record sales and net profits for the three months to the end of January.

The distributor, which has been expanding beyond its traditional remit of auto-ID, data capture and point of sale (POS) kit towards by adding more networking and comms contracts, posted worldwide sales of $684m (£429m), up 25% year-on-year, while net income grew 83% to $21.6m.

Group CEO Mike Baur said he had seen strong sales growth "in our communications businesses worldwide and our international bar code and POS business."

He cited improving market demand for the "surprising" growth in those areas.

The firm is now predicting sales of around $640m for the third quarter to the end of March.
