Symantec is offering SME resellers the chance to provide customers with pay-as-you-go monthly billing for managed services in response to demand from both partners and users.

The software vendor has up to now had an annuity payment approach, which will remain as an option, but through its ExSP licensing programe paying monthly is now available to resellers that are qualified service partners.
Symantec has been making the ExSP programme available for four years to its largest service specialising resellers but will now extend it across the channel base.
Ross Walker, director of small business UK & Ireland at Symantec, said that providing flexibility was one of the values around managed services and it had made the move to pave the way for more resellers to get involved in that market.
He added that the vendor expected more of its resellers to become qualified as service partners in order to take advantage of the ExSP programme.
"It will increase our reach across current partners as well as adding new resellers as well," he said.
Keith Humphreys, analyst at euroLAN, said that the vendor deserved some credit for recognising the benefits of monthly billing, making life easier for its partners.
