Since Kelly shocked the channel by announcing his departure from the company last September it has been guided by the joint leadership of chairman Kevin Loosemore and CFO Nick Bray but from the start of next month Nigel Clifford ( pictured) becomes CEO.
Clifford was CEO of Symbian prior to its acquisition by Nokia in December 2008 and he has also worked at Cable & Wireless and BT.
Loosemore said that the search had been "extensive" and it had seen several high quality candidates.
"Nigel's experience of large scale and complex environments means he is ideally qualified to lead the Company through its next phase of development and growth," he said.
Micro Focus expanded last year with several acquisitions and Kelly was also behind the vendor's involvement with the IT Manfesto which has resurfaced as as an election issue.
