According to analyst house Forrester the speed of change in the security market is now so intense there is no chance of burying heads in sand, which is a message that will boost those resellers operating in that market.
Khalid Kark, author of the Forrester report on recommendations for a 2010 security strategy, said that he expected companies to outsource to specialists in an effort to reduce the strains of internal management.
One of the recommendations that will chime in with a lot of current thoughts in the security market is the advice from Forrester that customers should “move away from existing notions of controlling all your data within your perimeter”.
The consequence of remote access and changing demands on a company’s infrastructure mean that the days of locking down data in a perimeter are coming to an end and resellers will have a chance to sell more solutions.
“With the shrinking perimeter and companies increasingly opting to have others control their data (outsourcers, business partners,etc.), security professionals have to get back to the drawing board,” stated the report.
