Insight Enterprises has today named distribution veteran Kenneth Lamneck as its CEO and president.

He succeeds Rich Fennessey, who left the company early in September and was handed an impressive $4m in severance pay.

In a statement, Timothy Crown, chairman at Insight said Lamneck brought a “wealth of strategic and operational experience” to the company.

During his 20 years in the IT industry, Lamneck has directed the Americas operation at Tech Data, held various executive management roles at Arrow Electronics and was vice president of sales and marketing at US reseller Netopia.

It has been one of the toughest years in the history of the industry and Insight has not been immune to the economic meltdown.

In calendar Q3 the reseller saw sales fall 17% year-on-year to $970m but profits went up 10% to $7.3m including exceptional charges, due in part to rigorous cost cutting that started last year largely in the US and continued this.

Lamneck said Insight has a strong “foundation” on which to build and he looked forward to “leading the company through its next phase of development.”
