Key Responsibilities:
-Providing day-to-day administration and support 
-Working within a Production DBA environment
-Ensuring the smooth running of critical systems
-Taking the lead in fault diagnosis and rectification of Oracle and SQL environments
-Undertaking performance monitoring, tuning and capacity planning for all databases and proactively making proposals to improve performance and utilisation of resources
-Maximising up-time and optimising database server utilisation as far as is possible 
-Liaising with other IT and business staff to ensure that all operational databases are meeting evolving business needs
-Ensuring that appropriate software upgrades and patches are applied to database environments in a timely manner
-Ensuring database environments are secure, particularly with regard to the web facing applications 
-Working with business users to identify how to satisfy business needs using Oracle and SQL server Designing and implementing databases as part of a project team
-Providing advice to the Business about database development and participating in system enhancement and migration projects
-Assisting in the development of queries and other database manipulation, including the import and export of data
-Undertaking account administration on SQL and Oracle databases
-Producing reports on a regular and ad-hoc basis as required by the Business and IT management
-Providing training to other team members, as appropriate
