Paper-free health care – anywhere!
Alert’s mission is to improve health and prolong life, achieve profitability to benefit society, and inspire others to excel as we do. Excellence, competence, transparency, generosity and love for life in all its forms represent Alert’s values. Alert is entirely dedicated to the development, distribution, and implementation of clinical software solutions to create paperless clinical environments.
Alert Life Sciences Computing U.K. Ltd is a member of the Alert Group of Companies and was incorporated in September 2008 to sell and implement ALERT® products in the United Kingdom. Alert UK is a rapidly growing organisation so watch this web site for details of current vacancies.
In England, Alert has been appointed by NHS Connecting for Health to supply clinical IT systems to NHS Trusts under the Additional Supply, Capability and Capacity framework contract as part of the National Programme for IT. Alert UK also sells its clinical products to private healthcare organisations and recently signed a contract with Circle Health Limited to supply clinical solutions to its private hospitals.
Alert Life Sciences Computing S.A. is a privately owned company with a turnover in 2007 of over 34 million USD. Based in Porto, Portugal it started its activity in December 1999 and has doubled its revenue every year since becoming operational. As expected during 2008, a large part of its revenue came from outside Portugal as a consequence of important investment in the international development and commercialisation of quality products.
Alert currently has a multidisciplinary team of about 680 permanent employees, including clinicians, designers, architects, engineers, consultants, mathematicians, and managers. The company is rapidly growing, and has doubled its employee base every year since it was formed.
ALERT® uses Web technology; a feature that is offered by very few clinical products. In fact, the majority of competitor products have not yet evolved from a client-server based technology. This distinctive feature enables ALERT® to compete for major national and international projects. ALERT® allows access to numerous healthcare facilities, while it customises access permission and the level of information sharing for each of those facilities. This feature is unique to ALERT® as it confers the user with easy navigation between and within facilities. ALERT® is multilingual. Very few products, if any, have the ability to compete in so many markets the way ALERT® does. From Alaska to Malaysia, ALERT® is becoming the most international clinical software in the world.
ALERT® has original concepts which may qualify it as a new paradigm in healthcare information systems:
1) It uses touchscreen technology;
2) It has user profiles that fit the needs of all healthcare professionals, thus differentiating access to clinical information and offering work environments that are adequate to the responsibilities of each healthcare professional;
3) It involves all healthcare professionals by relational association of tasks: ALERT®'s main strength probably resides in its workflow capabilities;
4) It identifies the patient and the healthcare professional unequivocally. The former with a photo and barcode ID and the latter with a photo and biometrics;
5) It uses an original implementation methodology, thanks to an on-site support service that will help with every step of the transition to a paper-free reality. This service, designated On-Site Training is largely provided by clinical psychologists who help to manage the complex processes involved in the removal of paper from healthcare environments.
One of Alert’s main goals is to eliminate paper as a means of support for clinical documentation.
