Ticketing at the O2 arena
Smartcard technology is used throughout the arena. Wireless readers scan the tickets, which are checked against a back office system belonging to Ticket Master. “Paper ticketing will probably disappear in the next five years,” said Farnworth. “We will see more and more smart cards, and companies will increasingly be sending tickets to your mobile phone.” RFID technology is also used to track attendance of staff. It’s a good way of controlling access to the arena, which will see up to 50,000 customers and staff there on a busy night.
