So is Liam Maxwell to become deputy government CIO?

With the government's replacement of outgoing CIO Joe Haley already done and dusted with the announcement of Ministry of Justice CIO Andy Nelson, who will be his deputy?

Following the resignation of former deputy CIO Bill McCluggage the search has been on for a replacement.

Liam Maxwell, director ICT futures at the Cabinet Office, is one of the names being bandied around. I had a chat with a contact of mine yesterday and he is convinced Maxwell will get the job. He says Maxwell wants to be an MP and the deputy position would allow him to be both.

He also told me that Liam Maxwell, through no fault of his own, is currently the bottleneck in the IT services chain as requests for approval of IT projects mount up.
