Get outta my InBox

Cliff Saran

My email InBox is full again. Someone sent me a 24 Mbyte file. Needless to say that particular attachment was the first to get deleted. I wish people would learn how to use email properly. It is not designed for sending massive files. Sending such files not only wastes bandwidth, it also takes up unnecessary storage space. Luckily the company I work for has lots of spare bandwidth. But if the network admins did an audit, they would quickly realise how much of it was going to waste. Certainly, I would not be at all happy, if I had to pay for the bandwidth and storage myself.

If the people sending these large attachments had to pay for all the bandwidth and storage they waste, they would quickly stop. I say we should all boycott anyone sending unnecessarily large email attachments.
