The Silicon Valley
giant has given a $5m grant to the World Wildlife Fund to help develop unmanned
trackers to catch and deter poachers across the world.
The WWF - the ones
with the panda logo, not the wrestlers - already has schemes in Nepal which
enables these drones to fly around for up to an hour and use cameras to detect
dodgy characters.
With this funding, it
will be able to extend these technologies to Africa and Asia to try and chase
away poachers who go after rhinos for their horns and elephants for their tusks.
Nice one Google! Definitely
not evil...
