Which? advises readers to smash their way to security

Consumer magazine Which? Computing has warned readers that the only way to ensure their data is safe when retiring a computer is to smash the hard drive to "smithereens".

This drastic measure has been criticised for being a less than green approach to computing.

It may be largely pointless for most users as well, as they will have almost every detail of their lives advertised on one of the many social networking sites.
