I spy with my little eye... your profile on Facebook

Apparently it is becoming increasingly difficult to recruit spies because of social networking sites such as Facebook and Linkedin.

Traditionally the secret services could recruit people for covert operations who would be difficult to track by enemy forces. But because people are hanging out their laundry in public via social networking sites, it is difficult to find recruits who are not known to the world.

Downtime does not understand this theory from security firm NCC Group: Sean Connery was a great spy, and everybody knew who he was.
