It's very rare that Downtime laughs out loud at reader comments but reader Ed Burke managed just that with his take on the Braille Speedometer: "Following you articles on Braille speedometers discussion has taken place in the office as to the effectiveness of these. We reckon that if guide dogs could be trained correctly they could then provide the additional information that the blind driver needs. Sitting on the back seat behind the driver the guide dog could press his right paw on driver's right shoulder to turn to the right, left shoulder to turn to the left and both paws at once to slow down or stop. Emergency stops would rely upon the driver having a keen sense of smell."
