Open Source Hardware

Michael Pincher

One of the latest trends in collaboration is open source hardware (computer and electronic hardware designed in the same way as free and open source software) it is part of the open source culture taking the ethos to fields other than software i.e the free release of information about the hardware design, such as schematics, bill of materials etc. The BBC's Click On-line did a good piece on this the other day. Another resources is Entirely Open Source. For any tinkers out here, this is a good place to start - time for the soldering iron to make a come-back!.
