Large transportation support companies - including those providing warehousing, passenger facility operations and cargo handling - spend more than twice as much on custom software as their closest counterparts in the distributive trades sector. The outlay by such support firms with 1000+ staff approaches £300 per employee. Air transport and water transport concerns are the next highest spenders.
