Home secretary Alan Johnson has called a halt to the
extradition of computer hackerGary McKinnonto the US.
Johnson said he had stopped proceedings to give McKinnon's
lawyers time to consider medical reports.
According to
the Mirror, he said, "We have stopped the clock ticking on the
representation to the European Court because new medical evidence
has been provided."
The extradition was
delayed last week while the home secretary and his legal
advisers considered new evidence regarding McKinnon's psychiatric
health.
McKinnon's
supporters want him tried on computer misuse charges in the
UK.
