British software companyMicro
Focus, which recently dominated headlines
encouraging politicians to do more to support the UK technology
industry, has announced that its CEO is departing.
Stephen Kelly is standing down for personal reasons. The
announcement came out of the blue and ends his three-year stint in
charge of the vendor.
During his reign Kelly steered Micro Focus through several
acquisitions, with the battle to acquire Borland
still rumbling on, and managed to raise the profile of the
vendor with its
Technology Manifesto, which was launched earlier this
summer.
In a statement Kelly said that the timing of a
personal decision to leave was always going to be
difficult.
"I will be supporting a managed transition and then take time to
assess the next steps for me and my family," he said.
Micro Focus has started the search for a replacement and Kevin
Loosemore, chairman of the vendor, said it had built a management
team that could take the business through the transition.
