Microsoft will release an evaluation version ofWindows Server 2008 R2tomorrow.
Windows Server 2008 R2 claims to provide greater integration
with its new client operating system, Windows 7. Microsoft said
this is achieved by simplifying remote connectivity for corporate
computers through a feature called DirectAccess,
Additionally, IT departments can provide secured remote
connectivity for private and public computers using a combination
of the Remote Workspace, Presentation Virtualisation, and Remote
Desktop Services Gateway features, Microsoft said.
Microsoft said Windows Server 2008 R2 supports client and server
virtualisation provided by Hyper-V and Presentation virtualisation
with Remote Desktop Services (formally known as Terminal
Services).
The OS is only available in a 64-bit version.
