Twitter has suspended the account of a sports writer
following itsclean-upof spammers last week, which affected many
legitimate users.
Twitter user SportSlant was using the micro-blogging site to
showcase his writing. But on Thursday evening he lost 50 followers
out of 520, and lost the remainder the next day.
On Saturday, SportSlant found his account had been suspended and
contacted Computer Weekly. He said, "I am so angry that this
happened, I am angry that customer service - which is something
that other businesses have used Twitter for in wonderful ways - is
nonexistent.
"Twitter could have at least sent out an automated e-mail to the
people that they were doing this to. I feel if any person looked at
my page, it would be obvious I am a real person and not a spammer
or phisher or porn site or anything that would cause me to be
deleted."
