Check Point has completed the acquisition of Nokia's security
appliance operation, formalising a relationship which has been
jointly developing hardware and software products for the past
decade.
Nokia has specialised on the appliance front, with Check Point
operating in the firewall, VPN and unified threat management
applications markets.
Check Point has also revealed that an IP product range is going
to be released shortly, which come preloaded with its security
gateway applications.
"Through the acquisition, we will be able to better meet
customers' needs and preferences with the latest security software
on the leading hardware platforms," said Gil Shwed, chairman and
chief executive at Check Point.
The security market has been heading towards appliances, which
have the advantage of offering multiple products reducing
management and licensing headaches.
