Elan Microelectronics, a company once voted the best
small company in Asia Pacific by Forbes magazine, has filed a
patent law suit against Apple over itsmulti-touchtechnology used in the
iPhone and iPod Touchmobile
devices.
The company has a patent on its own Multi-Finger touchscreen
technology issued in 1998 and appears to be gunning for Apple,
according to reports on the web.
If it wins, the outlook will be bleak not just for Apple, but
also Microsoft, which uses similar technology in the multi-touch
user interface in
Windows 7 and
Microsoft Surface, the company's £10,000 coffee table PC.
