Motorola is cutting a further 4,000 jobs in response to
the continuing recession and its inability to turn round its
long-running bad business performance.
The firm's mobile business will bear the brunt of
the latest job axe, absorbing 3,000 job cuts. Only last
October, loss-making Motorola announced 3,000 job cuts, again,
mainly in the mobile phone business.
The company expects to save $1.5bn this year from the
cuts it announced last October and the latest job losses.
Motorola wants to sell off it mobile business to cut costs
further, but in the present economic climate it is struggling to do
so.
