UK telecoms operator O2 has made clear the
mobile computing strategy that it wishes to pursue by launching
what it claims is the best value pay and go USB-based mobile
broadband package.
The move is a clear indication of the direction in which it
feels it should go feels it should go in when other operators
throughout Europe are reportedly
deciding upon increasing the prices of their mobile broadband
tariffs in order to generate badly needed revenue.
O2 claims that instead it is following up what it calls its
‘commitment’ to offer its customers value products with clear
pricing and no strings attached.
The new mobile computing package should appeal to
small to medium size enterprises (SMEs) who will be able to
acquire mobile broadband to support their flexible working policies
by having mobile internet access without the need to commit to a
long term contract.
The 02 USB stick mobile broadband offering available in a number
of bundles with no minimum term contract starting at £29.99 a month
for unlimited Wi-Fi access then a range of options starting at £2 a
day for a 500 MB allowance; £7.50 a week for 1GB or £15 a month for
3GB.
O2 says that customers will be able to access download speeds of
up to 3.6 Mbps and will have unlimited access to over 6,000 Wi-Fi
hotspots across the UK, through its partners at The Cloud.
Also included in the package is 24/7 support from a UK Call
Centre and the O2 Happiness Guarantee that allows customers to
return the device to O2 within 50 days of purchase with no
termination fees being charged and any costs for purchasing the
device being refunded.
