Vodafone's former
head,Arun Sarin, is in line to succeed
Jerry Yang as
chief executive of Yahoo, it is reported
Yahoo announced it was to
replace Jerry Yang in November, less than 18 months after
giving him the top job.
Yang angered many Yahoo stakeholders after he
rejected a Microsoft buyout offer in February. Yahoo's value
has dropped more than $30bn since then.
Arun Sarin, who led Vodafone through a period of rapid
changebefore stepping down earlier this year, is said to be
considering the position, according to the Financial Times.
He is considered a strong contenderbecause of his decisive
approach to cutting costs and expanding into emerging markets at
Vodafone.
Prior to his five years at Vodafone, Sarin held various
executive jobs at US-based technology companies.
Sarin has not yet commented on speculation about his plans to
join Yahoo, but is said to be considering several other roles.
