Money worries will lead to more people shopping online for
bargains this Christmas, according to a YouGov survey.
Although 71% of people polled said they would shop online, 28%
said
security worries over ID theft, fraud and not trusting the site
they are buying from would stop them buying.
More than 2,000 people were questioned about their spending
plans, with the majority saying the recent
credit crunch and resultant recession would prompt them to buy
online.
"Businesses have an opportunity to benefit from the increase in
online shopping expected this year by reassuring online customers
concerned about security that they are on a safe website," said Tim
Callan, vice-president of marketing at internet provider
VeriSign.
