NHS Scotland is spending up to £5m on software to manage
address information.
NHS Scotland has
advertised in the Official Journal of the European Union to procure
a national licence and associated services for address management
software.
The system will be based on data provided by Scotland's National
Gazetteer, which has been compiled by all 32 local councils in
Scotland.
The system is expected to cost between £2m and £5m, and the
final amount will cover software, consultancy and support.
It will link different administration systems in hospitals, with
the aim of improving the accuracy of address information NHS
Scotland holds on its sites, suppliers, pharmacies and other
associated organisations.
