Airport company
BAA has signed a framework network infrastructure and cabling
deal with
Carillion
IT Services.
The deal covers all seven BAA airports across the UK, including
Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Southampton, Edinburgh, Glasgow and
Aberdeen.
Carillion IT Services will, under an initial four year
agreement, be the preferred provider to BAA for on-site services,
including cabling for voice, data and other airport-specific
network systems cabling for new projects and maintenance for
existing cabling infrastructures across all seven airports.
All maintenance-related calls will be handled by the Carillion
IT service desk, which will be available to BAA 24 hours a day, 365
days a year. The service desk aims to resolve all issues on a first
call basis.
Carillion IT Services has been working with BAA for more than 10
years, providing infrastructure and cabling services to the three
Scottish airports. With BAA's new London regional operational
structure, the partners aim to improve the effectiveness of BAA's
overall cabling operation and over time help reduce its operational
costs.
"We selected Carillion IT Services due to its expertise,
experience and reliability, combined with an ability to provide a
quality of service that will benefit not only our business and
staff but also the millions of passengers travelling through our
airports," said Bob Gerrard, network projects implementation
manager at BAA.
