Application service management software provider DataSynapse is
integrating its FabricServer management tool with VMware
VirtualCenter.
The integration will enable IT managers to provision, monitor
and manage their virtual datacentres through a single console,
DataSynapse said.
"This integration will allow IT organisations to automate
deployment and provisioning and optimise service levels of server
applications in a virtualised infrastructure, helping them to
reduce capital and operating costs while delivering order of
magnitude improvement in time to market for critical business
applications."
Peter Lee, chief executive at DataSynapse, said, "With this
integration we can offer customers the ability to dynamically
provision applications in a VMware environment. The resulting
integrated interoperability between different layers in the
virtualisation stack is a prime example of what is required for
next-generation datacentre initiatives."
Managing a virtualisation environment effectively is complex. In
June, DynamicOps, a spin-off from
Credit Suisse, launched VRM, a virtualisation management tool
previously used internally at the investment bank. At the time,
Leslie Muller, chief technology officer of DynamicOps, said the
investment bank had developed its own software because no
commercial software company offered tools that would allow Credit
Suisse to manage the creation and destruction of virtual machines
from different suppliers to comply with financial services
regulations.
Users of Datasynapse products include
Merrill Lynch which has built a computational grid to support
trading.
