Small and medium enterprises should be able to cash in on
enterprise class software with today's launch of keenly priced
business intelligence and reporting tools by
SAP subsidiary
Business Objects.
John Wilkinson, manager for the firm's Europe, Middle East &
Africa area, said the new versions of Business Objects'
Edge
business intelligence tool and
Crystal Reports report writer were now tightly integrated into
the SAP software family, but were also available as stand-alone
systems for any SQL-based application.
The new versions offered enterprise class software at
"realistic" prices for small and medium companies, he said.
Business Objects' Edge, which is mainly for medium-sized firms,
provides query, analysis, reporting, data integration and
dashboards that allow managers to pull and correlate company data
for both routine and ad hoc uses.
Crystal Reports, which does similar things for smaller firms,
and Edge now share the same platform technology. Both also provide
connections to and integration with SAP environments, he said.
